As the saying goes health is wealth but a lot of us do not
consider this to be so as we take for granted the issue about our health. In as
much we wake up in the morning and step out of bed and go about our daily
activities without hindrance, we have the believe that we are well. If we take
good care of our health as we take care of our cars and other personal
belongings, a lot of health related problems would not have arise.
For an individual to be healthy, he or she must be in a state
of complete physical, mental, social and spiritual well being that is absent of
disease or infirmity according to World Health Organisation (WHO). But due to
the pollution all around the world – air and environmental pollution, stress
and life style most individual find it difficult to live in complete state of
health. Though, human body has the ability to heal itself but these external
forces like the environmental toxins, poor nutrition, and alcohol consumption,
cigarette smoking and eating of processed foods cause damage to the body and
cells degeneration. The nutrients (vitamins and minerals) that the body cells
feed on to sustains millions of chemical reactions the body performs each day
are not gotten in our diet in proper proportion.
Eating the proper diet daily that comprises the vital
nutrients the cells need from fruits and vegetables will prevent us from having
health challenges. But majority of people are not getting the minimal daily dietary
nutritional requirement from the food we eat not to talk of eating five (5)
serving daily requirement of fruits and vegetables. Over a short of time when
these nutrients are lacking in our diet, the deficiencies that manifest from
this lack will be falling of eye sight, hearing loss, joint pains, lack of
energy and thousands of other ailments that medical science tells us as human
being to accept with advance in age. While on the long time, these deficiencies
will result into illness like cancer and heart disease.
In other to maintain a healthy life, there is need for every
individual to inculcate the intake of dietary supplements daily. According to
Dr. Daniel T Quigley, author of The National Malnutrition; ‘everyone who has in
the past eaten processed sugar, white flour, or canned food has some deficiency
problem, the extent of the problem depends on the percentage of such deficient
food in the diet’. It is very difficult these days for people to get daily
nutritional requirement – minerals and vitamins – for proper life development
from the food we eat. Therefore, for us to live healthy life the way we want it
and age gracefully, we have to supplement our diet with organic food
supplements.
